I'm attempting to figure out how our new kitchen needs to be arranged and select a range. This is so much more overwhelming than I had imagined! I'm getting a bit too scrupulous about picking this range out, too. Decisions, decisions....

Don't forget an exhaust fan for the range!!!

When my sister built her house, she had the range put in the middle of the kitchen/eating area, so that she could put the food on the wall between the two areas.

However, she forgot the exhaust fan for the range, and has regretted it ever since. There's no way to put one in now.

That's why I'm looking for a downdraft slide-in range. It's either a downdraft range or move it to the other wall where I'd put a range hood. Maybe your sister can get a downdraft model one of these days! :-) They also make these pop-up vent things that go in the island beside the range. Who knew?!

We went with a downdraft smooth surface cooktop and a double oven. I like to bake and can't stand how long it takes to do a large-family-size batch of cookies! Hence, the double oven (great for purposes other than cookies also).

Hmmm...didn't know they made a downdraft slide-in range, but I guess pretty much anything is possible these days w/kitchen appliances.

BTW, instead of our initially-desired mudroom/laundry room, we went with the 2nd-floor laundry room. I hope it will prove to be more practical for our laundry issues, but I may be kicking myself in a couple of months! :-)

I did the smooth surface cooktop and double oven too. Now that you've shown us the kitchen plans.....let's get some more plan photos up ! I love floor plans. OH! And I love your expansive windows (out the back is it?)

Keep the photos coming....we're living vicariously through you, ya know!

Where will you put the double wall ovens you posted about? I hope at least one of them is self-cleaning! (You can see my priorities!)
